MDLC organises encounters between musicians and singers aimed at recording on to CD their improvisation sessions. The rules of these encounters are as follows: a recording during a single improvisation session held in a public space.
 
Cardioid recordings are made with a couple M-S. The couple M-S links a micro cardioide (M-middle) with a micro bi-directional (S-side). It is coherent in stereo and reconstitutes the background better than other procedures. The space revealed allows movement that is not normally possible and so the performers find an extra space of liberty in their sound work: they directly produce their own sound mix by determining their own placement in relation to the microphones.
 
This ‘game’ requires an effort of adaptation on the part of the listener. The sound is raw, without anything artificial, without treatment or correction.
 
The series recorded shows the formidable creativity of those who play “at the instant”; the rules of this game with no break reveal sublime harmonies in an improvised chaos.
